Last year my local gaming group, Strange Artifacts, got together to play a Forbidden Psalm tournament. I took it as an opportunity to kitbash a generic fantasy warband so I can test out all kinds of indie games. I’ll post a video of my process at the bottom of the page but first, pictures!
I based them on an art prompt by the artist Goran. They’re called the Sons of Orkus. And the idea is to design a company of mercenaries with green armor that features animal grotesques. The terrain for the event was really cool. We all brough boards but as is typical, I pretty much only got pictures of my board. Someone brought a really cool shipwreck on a beach which you can see above. Some one else brought a ruined watch tower. That board had fog rules in effect so my buddy used cotton balls, which allowed for some really cool cinematic shots like this one that features enemy NPCs emerging from the mists.
For my board, I was actually inspired by my friend bitter lake and the 40k planet he’s designing. So I made some red desert ruins. They work well for scifi or fantasy so I brought them to the event. It was just serendipity that the walls of the game room were also red, which made for some really cool imagery as well.
