I’ve been thinking about this kitbash for a few years now. Trying to find the right bits for him. It feels good to finally get it out of my head. He’s a radical Ordo Malleus inquisitor. I based his body on Lorgar from 30k because of all the occult sigils in his armor. His face also comes from 30k but I don’t remember who it is. I picked it because it looks like the skin is peeled off, hinting at the inquisitor’s ruined body. Maybe his armor is a life support device. To make him look more radical, I gave him a sword from the old chaos knights kit.

The thing that really makes him stand out though, is his platform. Enthroned inquisitors have been a thing for a while, but they’re usually Ordo Hereticus in the art. I wanted to explore what an Ordo Malleus throne would look like. So I came up with the idea of a platform that allows him to fight greater daemons. But it also seconds as a mobile ritual circle for performing rites of banishing, divinations, meditations, and things like that.

That was the most fun part to kitbash. It ended up with so much atmosphere. The piles of wax from the candles, the ritual circle painted in crusty blood, and the black scrying stone turned out exactly how I imagined.
For his retinue, I bashed up a sneaky special forces squad of Exorcist marines lead by a chaplain. I didn’t go with Grey Knights because they won’t work with radical inquisitors. But also, I kinda just like exorcists better. Their tactics seem more practical to me if you want to fight daemons. I mean sure, if you’ve already got a daemon incursion in progress, call the Grey Knights to sledge hammer them back into the warp. But daemon cults are sneaky and secretive. You need someone who thinks like them and operates like them if you want to prevent a daemonic incursion in the first place.
