Next up in the continuing saga of my Chaos horde is my unit of Chaos Warriors with the Mark of Khorne!
My favorite model is the one with the shield covered in eyes. A lot of times, Khorne followers are depicted as nothing more than blood-soaked barbarians. Which is very appropriate. But the lack of sorcery among Khorne’s legions makes it easy to forget that these are followers of an entirely alien, uncanny, and existentially horrifying intelligence. They should have terrifying and unexpected mutations just like the followers of all the other gods! I’ll try to focus more on the weird and unsettling aspects of chaos in my future Khorne units.
This unit represents a lot of firsts for me. It was my first time attempting a flaming lava weapon scheme. And it’s actually the first unit I created for the entire army. I saw a tutorial video on the official Warhammer channel showing how to kitbash Khorne-marked warriors using a box of Blood Warriors and Chaos Knights. The left over bits allowed me to build my unit of Khorne Knights as well. After that I was completely hooked on kitbashing Slaves to Darkness. I started converting a unit of Warriors and a unit of Knights for each of the 5 marks of Chaos. As I finished the last unit, I knew I needed to expand the scope to a whole army of heavily converted, heavy metal barbarians. So now I’m working on all the various Lords on foot, Lords on mount, and Lords sorcerer. Basically whatever units interest me from the army book, I’m converting 5 of them!
The obsession will never end! That reminds me; maybe Slaanesh should be next.
